Low Luckens Organic Resource Centre

Education at Low Luckens
Spring Visits
Summer Visits
At Low Luckens we aim to provide the link between people and
the food they eat as well as promoting conservation, sustainability and
wildlife.
We offer a wide range of experiences including the
opportunities to find out about where food comes from, to value and enjoy the
natural environment and to work together.
We can provide a range of programmes linked to the National
Curriculum. Concepts such as food chains which can only be talked about in a
classroom come to life in a woodland; the journey of a river can be followed
from spring to confluence; life cycles can be seen in plants and animals; the
natural environment can be used to stimulate ideas in art and writing – the
possibilities are endless.
Primary School Visits
We try
to make our day visits cross-curricular using a range of different activities
which hopefully cater for different learning styles. Your visit can be
tailor-made to suit your curriculum theme. All our activities link to the
National Curriculum and some link directly to the QCA Schemes.
See
below to give you an idea of some of the activity days we offer. Please note
this list is not exhaustive and activities can be created to suit your
curriculum needs.

Art
activities can also be integrated into your visit. Groups have made rag rugs,

Secondary schools, University groups and Youth Groups also visit the farm.
Please contact the Centre for details.
Some
groups even stay overnight and make their visit into a residential. We have
accommodation to sleep 12 people. Please ask for further
information.
Information for Teachers

Teachers are welcome to make a preliminary visit to
the centre and farm to meet the centre staff and look around.
· All visits are pre-planned by you and the Education

confirmation of your requirements.
· On the day of your visit you will be accompanied by
the Education Development Officer and other members of the centre staff where
